I'm not sure if it's just my laptop or not but I cannot open reshade on my laptop- whenever I go to open the menu, it just closes my game. I'm not sure what to do

What key did you pressed?
You means the game shutdown instantly when the key is pressed?
Is it same as when the ReShade is not installed?

It's the same key I would always use to open it in the past but after the latest Sims 4 patch it just closes my game without opening the menu. I've tried reinstalling reshade but it always does the same thing.

Try modify your ReShade.ini
From

[INPUT]
KeyMenu=36,0,0,0

To

[INPUT]
KeyMenu=68,0,0,0

Press 'D' key to should open ReShade GUI.
If open successfully, open [Settings] tab and re-edit overlay key.
