Unable to save configuration and/or current preset.
Please ensure file permissions allow write access to these paths and their parent directories:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced\Reshade.ini
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced\NVE.iniI’ve tried everything I found online, but nothing works. Can anyone help fix this?

I do have the very same error sind latest GTA 5 Enhanced Update.

Did a clean install of GTA with only the newest Reshade installed - error occurs accross all versions, no other mods involved. It could have something to do with this (from gtaforums)

@Alexander Blade As of 1.0.1013.17 on Enhanced, the game recursively opens every file and subdirectory in its directory, which prevents scripts from logging (Except for logging during init), and tools like OpenRPF.asi (basically OpenIV.asi for Enhanced) from loading assets. This is apparently caused by direct storage. Maybe that's something you could fix by hooking the function that creates the handles and only allowing it to do so for Gta-specific extentions. Other than that, nothing much. Thank you

The above is stated in conjunction with scripthook, yet it might apply to any mod that does need to write ini/log-files during load. OpenRpf has released version 0.3 today, to tackle this aswell. I can safely rule out any file permissions on my end. My logged in user had full file/folder access and is also the "owner", which is inherited accross the board. Neither does running the game/steam as administrator help.

Ah man I'm facing the same issue, only started happening after the last update and it's bummed me out, some scripts run and some don't. All the errors on the stack trace tell me it's a permissions issue, have tried everything from excluding the folder from Windows Security, adding CFG/DEP exclusions, running the game as admin, but nothing. Scripts can't find files due to permissions, can't read due to another thread already accessing the files and Reshade claiming that it doesn't have the right permissions. I give up :/

Glad to have another reply on this.

It all started with version 1.0.1013.17  of the game. None of the people reporting this had the issue before. I am now finding topics regarding this matter everwhere - Reddit, GTA Forums, Discord and here. None of them had permissions errors before - and all double checked them.

I think we can safely rule out the issue being on user end and what I quoted from GTA Forums is the real culprit here (changes to how the game uses direct storage upon boot up since 1.0.1013.17). Most mods having the same "permission" error (as stated, OpenRPF based mods had the same) are fixed/patched now, working again.

Only ReShade based ones are still struggling :( I hope we can get the developers attention here :)

Is there anyone here who is using a ReShade mod (NVE, QuantV, ChromatiX?) without permission errors and latest GTA 5 Enhanced Patch - if so, anything you can advise?

Made an account to share the fix:

Fixed it by deleting both files. After that you have to manually point it to where the shaders are (and if applicable the textures), by setting that directory in the settings, and then adding ** to have it search the shader directory recursively, then have it reload all the shaders in the home screen. So the directory would be C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced\reshade-shaders\Shaders\** in most cases.

Edit: this works only one time, as it turns out. Then the error returns. My workaround is now to use 5.9.2. That does not write to the ini files every time ReSahde starts, so the error does not reappear, only when you try to reconfigure it. Reconfiguring can be done by deleting the files and having them recreated.
