For the Doom 3 BFG Edition there was no way to enable the depth buffer until now,
so there was no way to use ray tracing or any other effects that need access to the depth buffer...
..Until now.
After much experimentation I found a way to enable the depth buffer
in Doom 3 BFG. I tested this with the GOG version.
and Reshade Version 5.5.1
1) Start the game.
2) Open the console and type *set r_useHDR 0*
3) Restart the game.
4) Disable motion blur.
Open Reshade and set.
RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_IS_REVERSED 0
Copy depth buffer before clear operations 1
Copy depth buffer before fullscreen draw calls 1
The depth buffer is now enabled.
